KAHULUI, Hawaii — East Bay Tire Co. has opened a commercial service center in Kahului, its first on the island of Maui, fifth location in Hawaii and the 13th commercial service location overall.
"Expansion in Hawaii has proven challenging at times, but as a community cornerstone, we have come to understand the nuance of doing business in Hawaii and that it is much more than selling a product or service," said Jay Ress, East Bay Tire general manager and head of Hawaii operations.
"It is about being an active player driving economic growth for the entire state," he added. "We are excited for the opportunities this new location represents."
East Bay did not disclose details as to the center's size or employment.
Fairfield, Calif.-based East Bay Tire has service centers on both Oahu and Hawaii, as well as a retread plant in Honolulu. The locations provide tire sales, retreading and roadside assistance.
"East Bay Tire is well known throughout Hawaii due to our long-standing business relationships, our involvement in the community and by providing the best service in the state," said East Bay Tire CEO George Pehanick.
The dealership is in its fourth generation of family ownership. It has serviced customers in California and Hawaii for more than 70 years.
