SAO PAULO, Brazil — Brazilian retread materials producer Borrachas Vipal S/A got a thumbs-up review from a bus company using Vipal treads on its fleet.
Viação Vaz, a carrier from Santo André, Sao Paulo, worked in association with NSA Pneutec, a Vipal Authorized Dealer Network retreading company from Sao Paulo, and MPF Controle de Pneus to use Vipal's DV-UM3B ECO tread, and attested to “a high fuel saving use,” the companies told Vipal.
By using the DV-UM3B ECO tread on its fleet, the carrier claimed it achieved “an expressive” 18.7-percent saving in fuel “against the standard design performance.”
Viação Vaz operates five bus lines serving more than 500,000 users every month, according to its website. The company said it strives for a “rational use of tires,” using retreading to reduce the amount of new tires needed for its fleet.
The ECO tread analyses were conducted over two days, mediated by Josemar Putti, Vipal Rubber business consultant; Brasilio Orias Vaz, supply manager for Viação Vaz; and MPF Controle de Pneus, the firm supervising the tests, according to a Vipal press release.
“It is always gratifying to be acknowledged. For Vipal Rubber, this is one of the fuels that keeps us going forward with confidence and leadership on the road,” the Nova Prata, Brazil-based company said. “It is even better when this acknowledgment comes from scientific tests and trials, since they attest the quality of the work” developed by the Latin American firm.
