FARHNAM, Quebec — Martins Industries Inc., supplier of tire and wheel storage and tire-handling equipment, has opened a distribution center and a sales office in Tilburg, Netherlands.

"The demand for our ergonomic and efficient products from Europe has been increasing dramatically from the past years," said Martin Depelteau, president of Farnham-based Martins Industries.

"To better serve the tire industry, we needed to have products in stock in Europe with live customer service," he added. "Our goal was to deliver our products to the customers within 24 hours."

The distribution center, which spans 25,000 square feet initially, is close to three key European ports, Rotterdam, Netherlands; Anvers, Belgium; and Hamburg, Germany, Martins said.

Martins has three salespeople on site and has hired David Matulaj, a logistics expert with 17 years' experience in shipping, to head the operation. The company plans to continue to add sales and service people over coming years

Martins Industries designs, manufactures and sells tire storage, inflation and handling systems, through its plants in Canada and China. It maintains offices and distribution centers in Canada, the U.S., Australia and the United Arab Emirates.
