WESTLAKE, Ohio — TravelCenters of America L.L.C. is seeking nominations for its 2018 Citizen Driver awards, which recognize professional drivers who earn public respect for the truck driving profession through good citizenship, safety, community involvement, health and wellness, and leadership.
Fleet owners, executives, truck industry suppliers and customers are all welcome to nominate a professional driver for the award. TravelCenters operates the TA and Petro Stopping Centers travel center brands.
Nomination will be accepted until Sept. 30, and forms, rules and other information can be found at www.ta-petro.com/citizendriver.
The winners will be honored at the 2018 Citizen Drivers Ceremony at the TA-branded Iowa 80 location in Walcott, Iowa, on May 8, 2018.
According to TravelCenters, 26 Citizen Drivers' names have been put on the TA-Petro locations of their choice.
"Bringing industry and national recognition to one of the best parts about trucking — its professional drivers— is the simple goal of Citizen Driver," said Tom O'Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters.
"If you know and work with truckers, think about who stands out and nominate them. The more we know about them — the more you can share on the nomination form — the better."
Among the Citizen Drivers honored this year, and the facilities being named after them, are
- Evan "Buddy" Haston, Amarillo Stopping Center, Petro, Amarillo, Texas;
- Idella M. Hansen, North Little Rock Stopping Center, Petro, North Little Rock, Ark.;
- Marty Ellis, Rogers Travel Center, TA, Rogers, Minn.;
- Jim Wilcox, Albuquerque Travel Center, TA, Albuquerque,; and
- Dick Pingel, Madison Travel Center, TA, Madison, Wisc.
