ITATIAIA, Brazil — Dutch tire machinery producer VMI Group has relocated its South American sales and service subsidiary to new quarters in Itatiaia, half way between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The new facility will be home for VMI South American Ltda., which is the service hub for all VMI equipment users in South America, with direct spare parts supply from own stock, was well as the production-assembly site for VMI's Retrax program of tire retreading machines for that region.

The building spans 14,525 square feet and includes workshop and office spaces, Epe, Netherlands-based VMI said.
VMI did not disclose its investment in the facility or costs of relocation, nor did it comment on the size of its staff there.
The Itatiaia facility also includes a depot repair facility for maintenance and repair of VMI's mechanical tire building and shaping drums.
VMI Retrax is a machine for applying retread cushion gum by extrusion and the option to include precured tread application.
