General Motors has classified Hunter Engineering 's Road Force Elite wheel balancer as an "essential tool" for its U.S. dealers.

ST. LOUIS — General Motors Co. has classified Hunter Engineering Co.'s Road Force Elite wheel balancer as an "essential tool" for its U.S. dealers, Hunter said recently.

GM's endorsement applies to the Road Force Elite, the latest generation of Hunter's GSP9700 line. GM has more than 4,200 dealerships throughout the U.S.

In a GM Dealer Equipment reference sheet, the car maker states the line is approved for GM warranty work.

Hunter Product Manager Greg Meyer noted that the speed of the Elite balancer "will not only allow all GM dealerships to quickly diagnose vibration problems, but to prevent them from occurring in the first place."

Hunter claims the Road Force Elite is the fastest diagnostic wheel balancer on the market, able to perform both a traditional balance and road force measurement in less time than it takes to complete a conventional balance.

GM's endorsement for now is for U.S. dealers. Hunter said it anticipates GM will broaden the endorsement to Canada soon.

Hunter noted that the Road Force Elite line is equipped with its patented Force Matching vision system that determines wheel dimensions and wheel runout measurements, thus saving time, eliminating data entry errors, ensuring accuracy and enhancing ease-of-use.
