FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Triangle Tire USA plans to open its first U.S. distribution center in the coming months and is considering a number of warehouse sites in Tennessee for that option.
The company, a subsidiary of China's Triangle Group Co. Ltd., has stated on a number of occasions that having U.S. distribution is a priority for the company's growth strategy.
Having a domestic warehouse will allow Triangle to complement its current container-load-only distribution model, according to Triangle's vice president of sales, Rick Phillips.
Among the sites being considered is Memphis, but a final decision has not been reached, contrary to information published earlier.
Once the first warehouse is in place, Triangle will continue to explore additional warehouse locations to serve its growing national customer base, the company said.
The opening of the warehouse comes a year and a half after Triangle Group created Triangle Tire North America L.L.C. and settled on Franklin, Tenn., a southern suburb of Nashville, for its headquarters.
Triangle Group is considered the No. 15 tire maker worldwide, based on 2015 sales of $2.44 billion.
