AKRON — The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) recognized U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, R-OH, recently with the NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence, which was presented during a ceremony at Goodyear's Akron headquarters.
Richard Kramer, Goodyear chairman, CEO and president, called Mr. Portman a "a true champion of manufacturing," adding that is record in the U.S. Senate has shown strong support for industry.
"I'm a strong supporter of our manufacturers," Mr. Portman said, "and that's why I have led efforts in the United States Senate to make them more competitive with my legislation to provide them with tax and regulatory relief, sell more made-in-Ohio products overseas, and crack down on foreign competitors who cheat. I am honored to receive this award today."
