Michelin Sascar expands fleet services in Mexico

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Michelin Sascar Mexico S.A. de C.V. is buying the fleet management business assets of Mexico's Copiloto Satelital S.A. de C.V. and will become the service provider for Copiloto's fleet customers.

The companies are not disclosing the terms of the agreement, which they expect to close in the second quarter.

Santa Fe, Mexico-based Copiloto provides fleet management solutions— such as monitoring, accident prevention, cost control and other services— to commercial fleet customers in Mexico, primarily through its proprietary hardware and Web-based software platform, Michelin said.

 

This platform will serve as a complementary extension of Michelin Sascar's Cargo Tracck solution and other services.

Copiloto Satelital said its goal is to solve the needs of its customers through integral solutions, developing and applying specialized products with competitive prices. Its Copilot System is homologated with Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Kenworth and other key truck manufacturers.

Greenville-based Michelin bought Sao Paulo, Brazil-based Sascar Tecnologia Automotiva S/A in 2014 to expand its reach into the fleet management business.

Sascar Mexico is a subsidiary of Michelin North America Inc.
