LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill. — Snap-on Inc. is offering its Snap-on Software Upgrade 17.2, which adds millions of codes, tests, tips and data for 1981-2016 vehicle model years, as well as expanded functional tests, resets, adaptions, guided component tests, Auto ID and One-Touch Code Scan and Clear.
"Technicians can maximize the capabilities of their diagnostic platforms and make the most of the power to diagnose the challenges that pull into the bay every day, by keeping their diagnostic tools updated with the latest software," said Mark Schaefer, director of marketing, Snap-on Diagnostics.
The software covers 22 domestic, 15 Asian and 12 European vehicle makes, including 2017 model year coverage for Acura, Chrysler, Dodge, GM, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Lincoln, Mitsubishi and Ram brands. Optional European coverage includes 2016 model year updates for Alfa Romeo, Audi, FIAT, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen brands.
Snap-on also has added Harley Davidson coverage to the software to cover all major systems with engine, ABS, hands-free, security, turn signal, hand control module, body controls, instrument, speedometer and tachometer on 2000 and newer motorcycles.
The Smart Vehicle Interface, sold separately, includes Harley-Davidson adapters and secure activation for scan tool software.
According to the company, other features of the software upgrade are:
- BMW expert mode and module coding;
- Ford diesel transmission characterization;
- Enhanced Ford, Mazda and Toyota EVAP testing;
- GM 6.6L diesel catalyst reset, hybrid coolant bleed and suspension control;
- Honda camera aiming;
- Jeep differential fluid bleed; and
- Mercedes-Benz occupant sensor calibration.
