BRYON CENTER, Mich. — AcuTread Alliance Group has achieved SmartWay verification for two products produced using the AcuTread mold-cure retreading system.
The two products are the SAT 17/32nd trailer/drive tread and 445/50 STT1 13/32nd trailer/drive tread.
"The precision manufacturing process and operational advantages of mold-cure retreading are now available in a SmartWay-verified trailer/drive retread," said Bob Majewski, technical director of AcuTread Alliance Group
AcuTread remanufactured retreads are produced under strict processing guidelines by authorized AcuTread licensees, he added.
The AcuTread process — developed during the 1990s by Mr. Majewski and Tom Sumerel of Sumerel Tire Service Inc. — uses strip winding of specially formulated tread rubber for a splice-free retread.
Messrs. Majewski and Sumerel created AcuTread Alliance Group in 2000 to hold and license the AcuTread process.
Among the licensed AcuTread retreaders are: Central Tire Corp., Verona, Va.; Fleet Tire & Retreading Inc., Pottsville, Ark.; Sumerel Tire Service, Newport, Ky.; Wayco Retread Inc., Santa Maria, Calif.; Wonderland Tire Co. Inc., Wayland, Mich.
In addition, there are more than 100 distributors on AcuTread retreads across the country.
