RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. — Telle Tire & Auto Service Inc. has acquired Safeway Tire & Auto in St. Charles, Mo., giving the 75-year-old dealership its sixth retail store in the greater St. Louis area.
Terms of the deal, which closed March 31, were not disclosed.
Safeway Tire opened in 1964 and Jay Moore and Dennis Budde have operated the family business since 1985.
In January, Telle Tire bought the St. Louis-area store of Meyer's Automotive.
With the recent acquisitions Telle Tire said it is in the middle of a re-branding strategy investing more than $225,000 into its stores to create a cohesive message and look. This has included redesigning its logo and name, purchasing 12 complimentary loaner vehicles, updating interiors and exteriors, and creating a strong branding message.
Telle Tire, which operates five stores in Missouri and one in Illinois, said that since 2011 its sales have increased more than 375 percent through acquisitions and organic growth.
