SÃO PAULO, Brazil — Bridgestone Corp. recently launched a program to attract young professionals to its ranks.

The company opened subscriptions for its program, “Movidos Pela Performance,” in November to select what it called “young people with professional experience and leadership profiles” to support the tire maker's growth strategy. Job opportunities were available in commercial, marketing, finance and supply chain areas at its administrative head office in the city of Santo André, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.

“We are starting this program aiming to bring young people that have some professional experience, with strong capacity for achievement and that can make their mark and contribute to the organizational culture of Bridgestone, supporting our growth in the Brazilian market,” said Lucila Del Grande, human resources director for the Tokyo-based tire company.

Candidates who graduated between December 2013 and December 2015, “with solid professional experience,” were encouraged to take part in the selective process, according to Bridgestone. They were required to have full graduation in one of the following courses: Engineering; Business Administration; Economics; Economic Sciences; Marketing and Advertising; Marketing and Social Communication. The company added that it also was mandatory to have advanced knowledge of the English language and basic knowledge of Spanish.

According to Ms. Del Grande, the program is aimed at encouraging professional development through a systemic vision of the company's business. “For 18 months, these young people will be at the forefront of strategic projects and will be accompanied by the directors and managers of the areas responsible for sharing their knowledge and dedicating efforts for young professionals to have new perspectives.”

The company conducted the selection process through Dec. 12 in partnership with Consultoria Cia de Talentos, she said, via that organization's website.

In Brazil, the production of the company's Bridgestone and Firestone brands are distributed in units in Santo André (SP) and Camaçari (BA). The company also operates two factories in Campinas (SP) and Mafra (SC) that manufacture treads and rubber parts for retreading.
