APPLETON, Wis. (Jan. 31, 2017) — U.S. AutoForce has acquired the assets of Wellborn Tire Group, a San Antonio, Texas-based wholesale tire business.

The deal closed Jan. 4, with Wellborn's location reopening Jan. 9 under U.S. AutoForce signage, according to a letter posted on U.S. AutoForce's website. It was signed by Alex Wellborn, president and CEO of Wellborn Tire, Joe Bailey, director of sales for U.S. AutoForce and Rob Sagar, area business manager, U.S. AutoForce.

In the letter, Mr. Wellborn said his company's has been evaluating how to expand its product lines and find ways to grow throughout the increasingly competitive tire business.

"After extensive consideration, the decision has been made to sell the assets of Wellborn Tire to U.S. AutoForce," he said, noting that the Appleton-based wholesaler can offer his firm's customers a range of new products alongside those Wellborn carried.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Wellborn Tire's San Antonio location, which did business as O'Malley's Tire Sales, becomes U.S. AutoForce's fourth warehouse in Texas and 22nd overall.

Wellborn Tire/O'Malley Tire had been a family-owned company for 40 years. Most Wellborn Tire employees will be joining U.S. AutoForce, the letter said.

U.S. AutoForce is a business unit of U.S. Venture Inc., a distributor of petroleum and renewable energy products, lubricants, and tires and parts for the automotive aftermarket.
