Smallwood to keynote at Clemson conference

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Jan. 12, 2017) — Richard Smallwood, president and CEO of Sumitomo Rubber North America, will be the keynote speaker at the 2017 Clemson University Global Industry Tire Conference, scheduled for April 19-21 on Hilton Head.

Mr. Smallwood will deliver his address at the April 20 luncheon, conference organizers said.

The rest of the conference schedule has not been released, but participating companies and organizations include many of the major names in the tire industry, such as Goodyear, Bridgestone Americas, Michelin North America Inc., Pirelli Tire North America L.L.C.

The Tire Industry Association and Rubber Manufacturers Association also will participate.

First held in 1985, the Clemson University Global Industry Tire Conference is a comprehensive interdisciplinary event designed to address major developments within the tire and allied industries.

Organized by Clemson University's Center for Corporate Learning, the conference covers all aspects of the tire industry, including design, research, manufacturing, materials, marketing and government regulations.

The conference will held at the Sonesta Resort on Hilton Head.
