LEXINGTON, Mass. (Jan. 6, 2017) — Edward S. Quirk Jr., longtime owner of Quirk Tire Co., died Jan. 5 at age 87.
Mr. Quirk was president and CEO of Edward S. Quirk Co. Inc. — d.b.a. Quirk Tire Co. — from 1955-1985. His father, Edward S. Quirk Sr., founded Quirk Tire in 1926 in Watertown, Mass., and his son John Quirk is the president and CEO of VIP Tires & Service, the successor corporation to Quirk Tire.
Mr. Quirk graduated from Boston College in 1951 and went on to serve in the U.S Navy as a Lt. JG during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Jane M. (MacCormack) Quirk; sons Edward Quirk III; Robert (Hallie) Quirk; John (Sarah) Quirk; Thomas (Nancy) Quirk; and Peter (Ellen) Quirk; daughter Ellen (David) Dollinger; 17 grandchildren; and one great-granddaugher.
Visiting hours will be 3 to 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at Stanton Funeral Home in Watertown, Mass., with a funeral mass at 10 a.m. on Jan. 9 at St. Joseph Church in Belmont, Mass.
