GREENVILLE, S.C. (Dec. 29, 2016) — Mobility, utility and flexibility are the design criteria for the 2018 Michelin Challenge Design competition, as Michelin North America seeks the most creative ideas for the next-generation light trucks.
"Open-bedded vehicles, or pickups, are a growing and increasingly diverse part of the global mobility mix," said Thom Roach, vice president of original equipment marketing for Michelin North America.
"Pickups have been the top selling vehicles in the U.S. for many years and we are seeing a greater variety of vehicle designs as well as manufacturers entering this category for the first time. In some ways, it is reminiscent of the emergence of SUVs in the marketplace."
Thus the theme of the 2018 Michelin Challenge Design is "Mobility/Utility/Flexibility: Designing for the Next Global Revolution."
