Mazda reported that some 2010-11 Mazda 3 models with stability control systems built before Feb. 1, 2011, may illuminate the ABS light on the dash and store one or more of the following trouble codes in the ABS control module: C0020:1C, C0020:71 and/or U0415:92.
One likely cause for the trouble, says the carmaker, is sticking brushes in the motor of the ABS hydraulic unit.
Installing an updated hydraulic unit with new-design brushes should eliminate further trouble. Two are available. The part numbers for the updated units are identical to the old.
