DAYTON, Ohio (Dec. 5, 2016) — Racing wheel producer Forgeline Motorsports has formed a partnership with Emergent Carbon Wheels to develop a two-piece carbon-fiber/forged-aluminum wheel, which launched recently under the “Carbon+Forged Series” brand.

Kansas City, Kan.-based Emergent Carbon  engineers and manufactures advanced carbon-fiber automotive wheels for OEM and aftermarket customers, while Dayton-based Forgeline is privately-owned manufacturing company dedicated to high-performance/racing wheels.

The new wheels, featuring Forgeline's CNC machined-forged aluminum centers bonded with Emergent's proprietary carbon fiber barrels, are 42-percent lighter than equivalent aluminum wheels, Forgeline said.

The weight reduction is achieved in the outer perimeter, Forgeline said, where the greatest reduction in unwanted inertia is achieved for real-world improvements in acceleration, braking, cornering, ride quality, NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness), driver/passenger comfort and fuel economy.

The wheels exceeding all existing SAE and TUV test specifications, Forgeline said, including the AK-LH 08 radial impact test standard.

The companies have launched two designs in the Carbon+Forged Series — the racing-inspired five-spoke V-design CF201and the style-conscious split-five-spoke CF202 — in 20- and 21-inch fitments. A set retails for $15,000, Forgeline said, or twice the price for a set of comparable aluminum wheels.

The separate aluminum and carbon-fiber components are bolted together with 40 Titanium fasteners. The aluminum centers are drilled, tapped and heli-coiled on the back side, Foregeline said.

They are targeted at owners of sports cars such as the Corvette Z06, Ferrari 458/488, Audi R8, Acura NSX, Lamborghini Huracan/Aventedor, Porsche 918/GT3/GT3RS, as well as Aston Martin, McLaren, Mercedes, and BMW models.

The new Carbon+Forged wheels and other Forgeline wheels are available through a nationwide network of Forgeline partners. For more information, visit forgeline.com or call 1-800-886-0093.

The Carbon+Forged line earned Forgeline Motorsports joined an elite group of companies by winning a Global Media Award during the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas for its new line of two-piece carbon fiber and forged aluminum ultra-lightweight performance Carbon+Forged Series wheels that will be available in January of 2017.

A panel of international media judges reviewed nearly 3,000 products that were entered in the SEMA Show's New Product Showcase. Each judge selected 10 products that they believed would be of the most interest to their respective publications' readership and would most likely succeed in their respective countries.

"We are deeply honored and humbled to have been selected by the international media judging team to receive this award, especially since there were thousands of products to choose from," said David Schardt, president, Forgeline Motorsports.
