ROANOKE, TexasAmerican Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD) is planning to open a 756,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Roanoke early next year, expanding its already dense coverage in Texas.
Tony Crème, senior vice president of Hillwood Propertieswhich helped ATD secure the structure in the Alliance Gateway 60 industrial zonesaid: Speed-to-market was an important factor in American Tire Distributors ultimate decision to locate at AllianceTexas, and Hillwood was able to quickly deliver a facility that met their operational needs.
David Dickey, chief supply chain officer with ATD, added: Building an efficient supply chain is a critical piece of our long-term strategic plan to deliver value to our customers and stakeholders.
The AllianceTexas location is ideal for ATD to grow our business and hire great people to help us deliver on our commitments to our customers and the communities we serve.
Alliance Gatewaylocated north of Fort Worth near the Fort Worth-Alliance airportis part of U.S. Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) 196, a designation that enables importers like ATD to avoid paying import duties on goods until they are shipped out of the warehouse.
ATD has 13 distribution centers in Texas, including one in Fort Worth that opened just a year ago, and one in Dallas.
Other positives noted about the Alliance Gateway property include: competitive tax structure; and close proximity to the BNSF Railways' Alliance intermodal facility, Interstate 35W and Texas Highway 114, according to officials.
