Ford reports that the air suspension compressor on some 1997-2004 Ford Expeditions and 1998-2004 Lincoln Navigators may be exceedingly noisy.
The carmaker attributes the problem to excess vibration setting up in the compressor's mounting bracket.
Installing a new-design mounting bracket that's part of a special noise suppression kit, Part No. 4L1Z-5Z205-AA, should eliminate further trouble. Complete installation instructions are included with the kit.
