ATLANTA (Dec. 2, 2016) — The Georgia Department of Economic Development has selected Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing Inc. as its Automotive Supplier of the Year in the inaugural Georgia Automotive Awards.
The Georgia Automotive Awards were created to honor auto industry leaders throughout the state and honor them for their contributions toward building a robust automotive economy in Georgia, the agency said.
Toyo was honored specifically for its sustained growth and its continuing contributions to Georgia's economy, according to the agency. Since breaking ground in 20014 on its plant in White, Ga., Toyo has grown to 1,180 employees in the state and more than doubled the size of its plant, it said.
A $370 million expansion under way and scheduled for completion in 2017 will enlarge the plant's manufacturing space to 3 million square feet, the agency said.
Other winners include:
- Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia — Automotive Company of the Year
- Hitachi Automotive Systems — Community Impact Award
