Sika abre nueva fábrica en Brasil

    SAO PAULO, Brasil — El fabricante de químicos de especialidad Sika Corp. dijo que está explotando el futuro potencial del sector automotriz en América Latina al abrir una nueva fábrica para adhesivos y productos acústicos en Sao Paulo.

    La empresa afirma que “más de 25 millones de vehículos producidos en todo el mundo se fabrican más fuertes y seguros” con los adhesivos estructurales de Sika Automotives, “mientras que sus sistemas acústicos reducen el ruido interior por más de 30 por ciento”.

     La nueva fábrica y su centro adjunto de tecnología fabricarán adhesivos y una amplia variedad de productos acústicos para el mercado automotriz en América Latina. Según la empresa, sus tecnologías de alto rendimiento se utilizan en diferentes aplicaciones, incluyendo aplicaciones acústicas y de sellado, para reducir el nivel de ruido en los automóviles o para unir estructuralmente la carrocería de vehículos.

    La tecnología de adhesión tiene “enormes ventajas sobre la soldadura y ayuda a la industria automotriz a responder a las tendencias actuales en la construcción de vehículos modernos, como la resistencia contra choques, construcción de peso ligero y diseño de materiales mixtos”, dijo Sika.

    En 2011, Sika A.G. adquirió Colauto Adesivos e Massas Ltda., con base en Antioquia, Colombia, un fabricante de adhesivos y selladores, además de amortiguamiento acústico y elementos de refuerzo estructural y amortiguamiento para la industria automotriz y de transportación cada vez mayor de América Latina.

    Dave Jones, el director del sector automotriz global de Sika, dijo que después de la adquisición de Colauto, “seguimos estando fuertemente comprometidos con la industria automotriz de la región y estamos invirtiendo aún más en la expansión de nuestra cartera de productos y capacidades de producción”.

    Añadió que Sika está “dedicado a servir localmente a nuestros clientes y ofrecerles nuestra gama completa de productos innovadores. Estamos orgullosos de poder proporcionar nuestra gama mundial de productos en Brasil para fabricantes automotrices internacionales tales como Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Volkswagen y Toyota”.

    Sika, tiene subsidiarias en 93 países de todo el mundo con más de 170 instalaciones manufactureras y aproximadamente 17,000 empleados. En 2015, la empresa generó ventas anuales de 5.49 mil millones de francos suizos (CHF).
