MAGOG, Quebec (Oct. 19, 2016) — Off-road tire specialist Camso Ltd. is broadening its portfolio with the launch of two “next-generation” Camso-brand skid-steer tires and three “resilient” Solideal-brand forklift tires.

Camso claims the new bias-ply skid-steer tires — SKS 753 for mixed and hard surfaces and SKS 532 for soft soil surfaces — are designed with features that increase tire performance and overall durability.

“We believe productivity and profitability can be maximized when you choose the right tire for your application,” said Mike Dembe, product management director, North America and Latin America – Construction,

Mr. Dembe noted that as the construction industry has evolved, general jobs have become more specialized and the skid steer's versatility has been able to respond to this reality. Camso said its new tires address this evolution.

The Camso SKS 532 and SKS 753 skid-steer tires.

The SKS 753 features a non-directional tread pattern optimized for durability and versatility. Its high lug-to-void ratio provides wear and puncture resistance on hard surfaces, while its stepped shoulder lugs improve traction on softer surfaces.

Camso is targeting the SKS 753 at rental fleets and others operating on mixed and hard surfaces. The SKS 753 is considered the successor to the Solideal Hauler SKZ and will outlast it by 30 percent.

The SKS 532 features extra-deep directional tread and curved lugs for improved traction and durability on general-duty, mixed-soft surfaces like construction and landscaping applications,

Its stepped tread pattern enhances mud clean out and comes with a Void Guard to reinforce and protect the carcass to prevent punctures and minimize flats.

The SKS 532 offers 30-percent longer life than its predecessor, the Solideal Xtra Wall, Camso said.

The Solideal RES 330, 550 Magnum and 600 Xtreme series forklift tires.

Both tires incorporate Camso's reverse sidewall design with impact guard to deflect objects and debris away from the tire. The new models are the fourth and fifth skid-steer tire Camso has launched since January 2015.

The new forklift tires — Solideal RES 660 Xtreme series, RES 550 Magnum series and RES 330 series — are designed to to help bring down the operating cost of a forklift.

How quickly a tire wears depends on a number of criteria, including load, distance traveled, time in operation, driver behavior, etc, Camso said.

“Our research and testing allowed us to find a way to build a stronger series of resilient tires,” said Erick Bellefleur, product line executive director – material handling.

The new tires and their features are:

    • RES 660 Xtreme is designed to be resistant to heat due to its performance compounds and low rolling resistance, Camso said, and features a wide profile for increased stability in corners and lifting loads and a continuous center lug to minimize vibrations.
    • RES 550 Magnum Series is designed for applications requiring medium to heavy loads and features wide profile, large footprint and deep lugs for improved tire traction on rough surfaces.
    • RES 330 Series is suited for machines running in confined spaces on an intermittent basis.

Magog-based Camso designs, manufactures and distributes off-road tires, wheels, rubber tracks and undercarriage systems to serve the materials-handling, construction, agricultural and powersports industries.
