DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (Oct. 4, 2016) — Vehicle lift group Dover Corp. has acquired Ravaglioli S.p.A. Group, an Italy-based automotive service equipment and vehicle lift manufacturer, for about $274 million.

Ravaglioli, based in Bologna, Italy, manufactures auto service equipment, including automotive lifts, tire and wheel service equipment and diagnostic equipment for cars, trucks, commercial vehicles and motorbikes.

The deal will “significantly broaden” Dover's capabilities and allow the company to expand into “attractive product adjacencies like tire and wheel equipment,” according to Dover President and CEO Robert A. Livingston.

“We are also excited about the growth opportunities for our combined vehicle service business as we leverage sales channels and are able to cross sell multiple products to our global customer base.”

Ravaglioli, founded in 1958, has manufacturing operations in Italy and more than 650 employees across the region. Its annual revenue for 2016 is estimated at about $165 million.

The company will become part of Dover's Vehicle Service Group, a business unit within its Engineered Systems segment.

Downers Grove-based Dover's Vehicle Service Group comprises nine vehicle lifting and collision repair brands: Rotary Lift, Chief, Forward, Direct-Lift, Hanmecson, Revolution, Elektron, Blitz and Nogra.

Ravaglioli has a U.S. office in Texarkana, Texas.
