DANVERS, Mass. (Sept. 27, 2016) — Maxam Tire North America Inc. is expanding its product portfolio to include the company's giant radial OTR product lines for the first time.

“The addition of the new size ranges in the MS401, MS402 and MS403 product lines marks an aggressive expansion into the North American giant OTR market for Maxam Tire,” said Troy Kline, president of Maxam North America.

Maxam will begin distribution in the U.S. of these E4-category tires in 49-inch sizes out of its Memphis, Tenn., distribution center, and will expand the range in the first quarter of 2017 to include 51- and 57-inch sizes. A 63-inch version of the MS403 rigid dump-truck tire is scheduled to enter field testing in early 2017, Maxam added.

Maxam said it has recruited a dedicated team to focus on customer requirements and will offer full support for the giant OTR product range in the North American market.

The existing product line is available for haul trucks up to 250 tons, with sizes to fit trucks up to 320 tons under development, according to the company.

Maxam said it offers a variety of compounds and three tread patterns to meet specific mining site applications. The Generation 4 Giant OTR line has been in development for the past six years and is the result of extensive research and testing in multiple mine locations across several continents, the tire maker said.

“The improved compounding and construction of the Generation 4 Giant OTR line will help mining companies improve productivity and reduce operating costs with higher [tons per hour] values, ultimately lowering the cost per hour,…” said Matthew Fagan, director of research and development for Maxam Tire.

“Field tests on production vehicles at numerous active mine sites across the world have substantiated these claims,” he added.

The company planned to exhibit the MS403 alongside the recently introduced MS708 Solid OTR and MS705XD Solid Mold-On Skid Steer during MINExpo 2016 in Las Vegas, Sept. 26-28.

Maxam Tire North America is a division of Maxam Tire International S.a.r.l., which designs, manufactures and distributes off-the-road specialty tire products and which in turn is a business unit of China's Sailun Group.

Earlier this year Danvers-based Maxam opened distribution warehouses in Long Beach, Calif., and Memphis to support a growing dealer network throughout the U.S.
