WASHINGTON (Sept. 21, 2016) — A coalition of 120 organizations, including the Auto Care Association (ACA), the Institute of Scrap Processing Industries and the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, has sent a letter to Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker, urging her to resolve the international shipping crisis caused by the bankruptcy of Hanjin Shipping Co.
South Korea-based Hanjin filed for bankruptcy Aug. 31, leaving some $14 billion in cargo stranded at sea and disrupting the global supply chain, according to an ACA press release.
“U.S. businesses rely on predictability in their supply chains, particularly during the busiest shipping season of the year,” the coalition said in its Sept. 19 letter to Ms. Pritzker.
