YTC to debut OTR tire-tracking software at MINExpo

SANTA ANA, Calif. (Sept. 21, 2016) — Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) will debut proprietary tire-tracking software, called Y Trax, for off-road equipment operators during this year's MINExpo International trade show in Las Vegas, along with one new and one prototype OTR tire.

Yokohama said Y Trax allows the user to calculate per-mile and treadlife costs, as well as predict wear and replacement demands. Additionally, it builds a photo history of each tire's performance, monitors tire-related downtime and eliminates manual record-keeping.

Company staff will be on hand to demonstrate the software.

On the tire side, YTC will debut the R69 L5-S, a 25-inch radial for loaders in underground mine applications, and show the RL47 prototype, a 57-inch radial for ultra-large dump trucks.

The R69 L5-S features a combination of unique compounds and advanced radial construction, Yokohama said, making it suited for job sites where increased speeds and loads in long-haul operations are necessary. It's being offered in one size: 18.00R25.

Yokohama did not release any further details on the RL47.

The company also will display four other OTR tires and three new tread patterns in its Y67 underground mining tire line.

The others on display will be:

• Y69U, a 25-inch bias tire for underground mining;

• RB42, a 49-inch radial for dump trucks in 49- and 52-inch sizes; and

• The Y67 line-up will comprise a 15-inch bias tire in 24-, 32- and 36-ply for underground mining applications — particularly for the smaller, low-seam category — and a 20-inch model.

The company also will be showing two on-/off-highway commercial tires — the MY507 all-position and LY053 drive-axle radials for use in logging, construction and rock and quarry operations — and the 108R, a SmartWay-verified regional all-position/steer tire.

“MINExpo is the largest mining show in the world and is the best place to display our OTR tire line to our customers,” said Tim Easter, YTC director of off-the-road sales.

Santa Ana-based Yokohama did not indicate it would include any products or information pertaining to Alliance Tire Group, the OTR tire producer it purchased earlier this year.

The company will, however, be holding a “Score to Win” competition, which will offer booth visitors a chance to win a 2016/17 Chelsea Football Club Jersey by playing a customized interactive soccer game. Yokohama Tire is the official shirt partner of Chelsea FC.
