SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2016) — Diagnostics, telematics and new car technology expert Donny Seyfer will deliver the keynote presentation during the one-day Chicago-area Service-EDU event on Oct. 8.

The address is designed to help technicians better understand new technology and how it can help position their repair shops for success, by examining the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) for connected cars.

“Telematics, connected cars and autonomous vehicles are all the new buzzwords that are going to disrupt your business,” said Mr. Seyfer, co-owner of Seyfer Automotive Inc. in Wheat Ridge, Colo. “Part of a technician's preparation for new vehicles entering their bays is knowing what to prepare for.”

Mr. Seyfer, an ASE master mechanic and ASE-certified service consultant, has more than 30 years' experience in the automotive service industry. He is MI-accredited automotive manager and the current chairman of the Automotive Service Association (ASA).

Service-EDU education courses will be offered throughout the day Oct. 8 at the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) campus in Lisle, Ill.

Each will be taught by leading industry trainers from Gates Corp., Mahle Aftermarket Inc. and NGK Spark Plugs USA Inc. Each manufacturer's learning material is focused on their area of expertise in the following product categories: accessory belt drive systems (ABDS), coolant systems, engine components, filtration, ignition system, thermal, timing belt systems and tools and equipment.

Registration for the Service-EDU event can be made online at www.service-edu.com. Cost is $49 per person, and the fee includes the education courses, breakfast, lunch and opportunities to win raffle prizes.
