BETHESDA, Md. (Sept. 15, 2016) — The Auto Care Association (ACA) has named the recipients of its Mort Schwartz Excellence in Education and Auto Care Career and Education (ACE) Awards for 2016-2017.
Rick Guirlinger, president of Bourke Services L.L.C. in Raleigh, N.C., received the Mort Schwartz Excellence in Education Award. It was created to honor Mort Schwartz, an aftermarket entrepreneur who, according to the ACA, is a strong advocate for industry education and scholarship programs. Mr. Guirlinger won the award for his “tireless work as an educator and mentor to many young and up-and-coming executives in the aftermarket, including his participation as a University of the Aftermarket faculty member,” the association said.
With the University of the Aftermarket for several years, he has concentrated his teaching on financial analysis, financial reporting, industry data interpretation and financial decision-making, the ACA said, adding that he “is more than a teacher of concepts — he has proved to be an engaging instructor who can integrate real-world examples with the academic ideas in his classes.”
Mr. Guirlinger has been on the school's faculty for the following programs: Leadership 2.0; Heavy Duty Leadership; Tire Leadership 21; Aftermarket 101; and AWDA Conference at Automotive Aftermarket Parts Expo (AAPEX). He continues to be very involved in the aftermarket and auto care industry, according to the association.

Small size company: Vic's Service Ltd, Wainwright, Alberta, Canada
