BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. (Aug. 22, 2016) — Bridgestone Retail Operations is continuing its support for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) for a second year, starting with a nationwide promotion involving its 2,200-plus retail stores.
Starting Aug. 22, the company's various retail store brands will begin offering $5 Value Books that offer more than $150 in savings and rebates from Bridgestone Retail stores and other participating companies.
Last year Bridgestone raised $1 million for BGCA through its retail store network, and the Nashville, Tenn.-based tire maker said 100 percent of funds raised through the program will support the 4,200-plus Boys & Girls Clubs that serve nearly 4 million young people annually through Club membership and community outreach.
Bridgestone Retail's program — dubbed “Driving Great Futures” — is designed to help fund BGCA's Great Futures campaign, which seeks to elevate the role of out-of-school time in reversing negative trends in the areas of poor academic performance, obesity, drug use and youth-related violence.
The program's goal, Bridgestone said, is to help 11 million kids and teens who leave school each day without a place to go and 43 million who don't have access to summer learning programs.
“At Bridgestone, we're committed to being good neighbors and contributing members of the communities where we do business,” Bridgestone Retail President Stu Crum said, “and one of the ways we can do this is by supporting kids and teens in those communities.”
Customers at all Bridgestone Retail stores — which do business as Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tires Plus, Hibdon Tires Plus and Wheel Works — will be invited to donate at the register.
