Nexen continues sports marketing for European market

    SEOUL, South Korea (Aug. 22, 2016) — Nexen Tire Corp. will continue its sports marketing activities for European market this year, including perimeter LED advertising at two clubs in the Italian Serie A and the second season of sponsorship of Manchester City Football Club.

    The South Korean tire maker said it will run advertisements during the home matches of S.S.C. Napoli and Torino F.C. of the Italian Serie A football (soccer) league to strengthen competitiveness in the European market. The company's advertisements will be displayed on pitch side LED screens during home matches for the upcoming season.

    “Through this screen advertisements of prestigious football clubs that represent Serie A's proud history and name, Nexen Tire is looking forward to reach out to European customers and let them know more about our brand,” Nexen said in a press release.

    Moreover, the company also continues its official sponsorship with Manchester City Football Club (MCFC) of the Premier League for the 2016-2017 season. Starting with the 2015-2016 season, The company has been a sponsor of MCFC — which it described as “one of the top flight European football clubs beloved not only in Europe but also around the world.”

    According to the tire maker, it plans to continue utilizing its official sponsorship rights to “execute various marketing activities such as hosting events for business partners, media advertisements, customer events and more.” The company said it has been continuing to strengthen its global presence with diverse sports marketing activities in order to establish world-wide brand awareness and value.

    Along with its official sponsorship of MCFC and the Serie A advertisements, Nexen Tire said its diverse portfolio of sports marketing activities include partnerships with three U.S. Major League Baseball teams, BK Mlada Boleslav of the Czech Republic's Premier Ice Hockey League and the Chiefs of the New Zealand Rugby League.

    Founded in 1942, Nexen said that, as of July 2015, it works with 491 dealers based in 141 countries around the world. The company owns and operates three manufacturing plants — two in South Korea (Yangsan and Changnyeong) and one in Qingdao, China. A fourth plant is scheduled to be operational in Zatec, Czech Republic in 2018.
