    BROADVIEW, Ill. (Aug. 16, 2016) — Robert Bosch L.L.C. has launched a line of heavy-duty batteries for commercial vehicle applications.

    The new Bosch T6 AGM, T5 Dual Purpose and T4 batteries were developed to withstand extreme conditions unique to heavy-duty vehicles, the firm said, including extended idling and severe temperatures. According to Bosch, they provide coverage for over-the-road and local delivery trucks, fire-fighting vehicles, buses and municipal vehicles.

    The new T6 AGM features absorbent glass-mat technology, which Bosch said is among the newest innovations in battery design and construction. It incorporates microfiber glass mats designed to absorb battery acid to protect the battery plates.

     The plates and glass mats are tightly arranged and compressed for premium performance and reinforced durability, the company said, adding that benefits of the product include:

    • A long service life and doubled deep-cycle resistance compared with conventional batteries;

    • Improved vibration resistance;

    • Performance in extreme climates;

    • “Excellent” charge acceptance and starting power for vehicles with high electronic demands;

    • Maintenance-free operation; and

    • A two-year free replacement warranty.

    Both the T5 and T4 batteries are designed to offer faster recharging capabilities compared with conventional batteries, flushed tops for minimized acid leak risk, maintenance-free operation and an 18-month free replacement warranty.

    The T5 improves on the T4, offering better starting power and service life, though Bosch claims both offer an improvement in those areas over conventional batteries. The T5 also provides dual-purpose functionality, offering users a reliable power supply for all electronic demands, even with the engine shut off, the firm said.
