DENVER (Aug. 8, 2016) — The International Franchise Association (IFA) has begun promoting the image of franchising with an online initiative — @OurFranchise — and nationwide speaking tour.

The @OurFranchise campaign is focusing on stories about local franchise business owners and their employees who are supporting their communities, creating jobs and business ownership opportunities.

“In neighborhoods across the country, franchising offers people an opportunity to better their lives, bringing together brands, local owners, employees and the local community,” said IFA President and CEO Robert Cresanti at the campaign's kickoff event in Denver.

“Americans from all walks of life turn to franchising to find first jobs, start new businesses and learn skills that lead to successful careers. The @OurFranchise campaign captures the real, positive impact of the franchise model as told by local owners in their own voice and speaks to the level of economic contribution franchise owners continue to have to the American economy.”

Franchising contributes $994 billion to the U.S. economy and supports an estimated 9.1 million jobs, according to the IFA.

The new campaign includes advertising, educational events, employee training resources, research and economic data that the IFA hopes will educate the public and policymakers at every level of government on the franchising's role in communities across America.

The IFA is planning speaking tour stops in the Chicago area Aug. 23-25 and Hampton Roads, Va., Aug. 28-30; it will release additional stops as they are finalized.

According to a Morning Consult survey of 10,000 voters, Americans have a favorable view of franchise businesses across all demographics including party affiliation, age, gender and race.

In Denver, Mr. Cresanti led a roundtable discussion at PostNet International Franchise Corp. headquarters with local business, community and academic leaders. Discussion topics included educating the public, policymakers and the media about the franchise business model and its impact in the state and every community across the country.

Mr. Cresanti also called on elected officials to recognize the importance of franchising during the upcoming election season, and encouraged franchising supporters to make their voices heard when choosing candidates at the polls.

The IFA claims to be the world's oldest and largest organization representing franchising worldwide.
