    GRANDVILLE, Mich. (Aug. 2, 2016) — RepairSurge L.L.C. claims it recently became the largest independent factory-authorized online provider of auto repair manuals to cover more than 24,000 vehicles.

    The online repair manuals — targeted at do-it-yourself mechanics and independent auto repair shops — contain repair steps, troubleshooting information, illustrations, wiring diagrams and additional material sometimes not found in the OEM versions, according to Grandville-based RepairSurge.

    The company claimed cost-savings “are obtained from individual vehicle access as compared to expensive subscriptions which include all vehicles — something home mechanics and smaller shops do not need.”

    Entrepreneur Jon Vorisek started RepairSurge in 2009 after searching for auto repair manuals on eBay. Deciding “there had to be a better way,” the company said he created RepairSurge as an easy-to-use software tool containing auto repair information.

    While initially offering only general repair advice, RepairSurge said the product has evolved through several versions and now provides vehicle-specific service information covering over 24,000 vehicles through an online interface. A breakthrough occurred in 2012 when Mr. Vorisek was able to begin incorporating factory-authorized service data into the RepairSurge product.

    Mr. Vorisek said the company is “excited about what we might call a new beginning. The manuals surpass early expectations for vehicle coverage, and we now have the ability to add features never seen before in a service information product.

    “One of the advantages that we have as an independent company is the ability to react quickly and add new data, features and learnings from our customer base.”

    The online manuals include:

    • Diagnosis by trouble code or vehicle symptom;
    • Vehicle-specific repair procedures;
    • Inspection and maintenance procedures;
    • Thousands of illustrations and diagrams;
    • Wiring schematics; and
    • OEM parts information.

    RepairSurge said it provides a cloud-based solution “that scales with the demands of the industry,” is available on all devices and can be printed out for use. The manuals are provided on a subscription basis with renewals available at a reduced price.
