RHD moves HQ, warehouse to larger facility

WYOMING, Mich. (Aug. 2, 2016) — Wholesale distributor RHD Tire Inc. has moved its headquarters to Wyoming from downtown Grand Rapids, Mich., to a warehouse and office facility that's twice the size of the Grand Rapids location.

RHD bought the 108,000-sq.-ft. structure in Wyoming, a community of about 72,000 inhabitants immediately south of Grand Rapids.

Combined with its Detroit-area location in Ferndale, Mich., RHD now has close to 200,000 square feet of warehousing space to service customers.

“The new location will facilitate RHD's continued growth strategy by allowing additional lines of business and greater efficiencies,” according to Kevin Haviland, co-owner of the 44-year-old business.

“We're excited to start this new chapter and are thankful for our many loyal customers and employees,” he said, noting the company has grown to 55 employees from a dozen just 10 years ago.

RHD serves all of Michigan and northern Indiana and is working with its suppliers to determine the feasibility of opening service to two under-serviced markets.

The distributor handles most major brands, including BFGoodrich, Bridgestone, Continental, Cooper, Dunlop, Firestone, Fuzion, General, Goodyear, Hankook, Kelly, Kumho, Michelin, Pirelli, Uniroyal and Yokohama.

The dealership derives about 95 percent of its annual sales from wholesale, Mr. Haviland said.

The company also recently attained full wholesale distributor status from Bridgestone Americas from Family Dealership status and promoted Amy Devries to general manager of operations. She's been with RHD since 2010.

It also is certified as a supplier to General Motors Co. and Ford Motor Co. dealerships.

RHD was founded in 1972 and originally located in downtown Grand Rapids. The company moved to its former facility in 2008 after opening its initial metro Detroit location in 2007.
