ROANOKE, Va. (July 29, 2016) — Advance Auto Parts Inc. President George Sherman will step down from that role on Aug. 13 and will remain with the company through year-end to assist with an orderly transition.

The aftermarket parts provider said Mr. Sherman's leadership team will now report to CEO Tom Greco but did not provide a reason why he is leaving the company.

Mr. Sherman, who joined Advance in April 2013, has served as president throughout his tenure. In addition, he also served as interim CEO from January to April 2016.

“I want to thank George for his contributions to Advance and his willingness to assist with a smooth transition,” Mr. Greco said, noting that Mr. Sherman “has played a vital leadership role in the integration of the Advance and Carquest teams, and has helped to create a more field and customer focused company by empowering our stores and field leaders to better serve customers.

“We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

As of April, Roanoke-based Advance Auto, a unit of Advance Stores Co. Inc., operated 5,086 stores and 125 WORLDPAC branches serving approximately 1,300 independently owned Carquest-branded stores in the U.S., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada.
