TOKYO (July 15, 2016) — Mazda Motor Co. Ltd. has selected two tires from Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.'s Geolander line as original equipment for two of its crossover SUV models.

Mazda picked the Geolander H/T G056, which provides solid handling performance, good treadwear and a comfortable ride on both streets and highways according to Yokohama, for its CX-9 three-row midsize crossover SUV that ia being released in North America this summer.

Yokohama will supply Two tire sizes— P255/60R18 107H and 255/60R18 108H — for the CX-9, which is billed by the auto maker as having a “more premium design execution.”

This is the second OE fitment disclosed for the CX-9.

Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc. earlier this year disclosed that Mazda had selected the Falken Ziex CT50 all-season performance tire as an OE fitment for the CX-9.

Meanwhile, the tire maker's Geolander G91 was selected as original equipment for the CX-4, a new crossover SUV available in China since June 21.

The tire, according to Yokohama, is part of a Geolander series that contributes to the SUV's fuel efficiency, safety and comfort. It employs the company's BluEarth technology for environmentally and socially friendly design.

Yokohama will supply 225/55R19 99V size tires for the CX-4 vehicles.

Both of Mazda's CX models come equipped with the auto maker's SKYACTIV technology and are designed with the Jinba-ittai driving feel, which aims to create a oneness between the driver and the vehicle, the company said.
