BOWIE, Md. (July 1, 2016) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) board of directors has elected John Evankovich, director of Sam's Club's Tire & Battery Centers, as the board secretary for 2016-17, putting him on track to be TIA's president in 2018-19.
He will begin his one-year term as secretary on October 31, 2016; after that year, he will proceed as vice president, then president, then past president.
“John has tremendous industry experience and a proven commitment to the association. We are fortunate to have him taking on this leadership role on our board and the entire industry will benefit from his expertise,” said TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.
Mr. Evankovich is a 26-year retail veteran who has been focused on the tire industry for the majority of his career. He started his career in the tire business with Wal-Mart Inc.'s Sam's Club business and has progressed through various operations and human resource roles in many areas of the country.
As director of Sam's Club's Tire & Battery Centers, he oversees all operations of more than 630 retail locations across the U.S.
Among his achievements are winning the 2009 Sam's Club Achievement in Service Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions in customer experience, and the 2013 Sam's Club Carpe Diem Award for achievements in the area of consumer and workplace safety.
