    READING, Pa. (July 1, 2016) — EnerSys, maker of Odyssey-brand batteries, has become a sponsor of 14-year-old race driver Hailie Deegan in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS).

    Ms. Deegan — daughter of action sports legend Brian Deegan — is competing this year in the LOORRS Modified Kart class, where she is the points leader after the first six of this season's races.

    She also runs in LOORRS' regional series in the Mod Kart class and is part of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program, which is racing in the Bojangles Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

    Ms. Deegan scored her first Mod Kart Championship victory last year, and won the LOORRS Junior Kart 2 class championship in 2013 at age 11, becoming the first girl ever to capture the championship.

    “I am really looking forward to this season of racing multiple series both on dirt and pavement,” Ms. Deegan said. “I want to race every week and continue to develop my driving skills. I just love racing. Having the power of Odyssey batteries and their support gives me the best chance to compete for a win every time I am on the track,”

    Ms. Deegan's #538 Mod Kart will sport the Odyssey battery logo on the quarter panel in LOORRS events and on the B post of her Legends car and she will sport the logo on her driver's suit, posters and social media.

    She also will use an Odyssey battery in both vehicles. EnerSys said Odyssey batteries are designed with an absorbed glass mat (AGM) construction and thin plate pure lead (TPPL) technology for more engine-cranking power and reserve power than conventional batteries.

    The batteries feature a three- to 10-year service life and two-year storage life at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). The company said they are vibration resistant, classified as “non-spillable” by the U.S. Department of Transportation and include a limited two- to four-year full replacement warranty.

    “We are proud to support Hailie as she continues to showcase her talent while honing the skill that will lead her to many future victories,” said Maria Orlando-Krick, marketing content and sponsorship manager at EnerSys.

    “She is a great role model for girls everywhere and we think it's a great testament that the next generation of off-road champions continues to choose Odyssey batteries to power their vehicles.”

    Races remaining on the 2016 LOORRS schedule include:

    • Aug. 13-14 — Wild West Motorsports Park, Sparks, Nev.;
    • Sept. 23-24 — Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park, Lake Elsinore, Calif.; and
    • Oct. 22-23 — Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, Chandler, Ariz.

    More information on EnerSys and its product lines, systems and support is available on the company's website.
