Omni United buys A to Z Tire

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (June 30, 2016) — Omni United Pte. Ltd. has acquired A to Z Tire & Battery Inc. of Amarillo, Texas, providing the Singapore-based tire distributor a wholesale presence throughout the American Southwest encompassing more than 6,000 dealers.

The A to Z deal is Omni United's second acquisition of a U.S. wholesaler in the past nine months and is considered the next strategic step toward scaling up the company's multi-brand distribution business in the U.S. Last November Omni bought Interstate Tire Distributor of Commerce, Calif.

Financial details of the deals were not disclosed.

A to Z Tire was founded in 1926 as Amarillo Bus Co. Today it manages 21 distribution locations with over 500,000 square feet of warehousing space throughout its six-state marketing territory — Arizona, California, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico and Texas.

A to Z Tire carries Toyo, Cooper, Atturo, Firestone, Roadmaster, Gladiator, Samson and other brands, Omni United said, and now will add Omni's Goodride, Radar and Timberland brands.

“Acquisitions like these give us an opportunity to work with other manufacturers and collectively design the next generation of technology for distribution,” said GS Sareen, founder and CEO of Omni United. “With the tools that are available today, there is tremendous efficiency that can be brought into the distribution business”

Omni United's footprint in the U.S. now covers 29 warehouses with a total capacity of close to 1 million square feet, serving a network of more than 10,000 dealers spanning eight states within the west and south regions.

“The future will be about providing transparency and efficiency to the principals so that they have a better view of the business, and as a result, a better control of the brand they own,” Mr. Sareen said. “We are purely the custodians of the brand, and it is only logical that we work with the principals in a partnership mode rather than the traditional customer and supplier way.”

Mr. Sareen said Omni wants to provide efficiency and the benefits of synergies that his company gains with acquisitions like this.

“Our passion and drive is to bring in efficiency to tire distribution and to service as many retail outlets as we can,” he added. “We will continue to plot our own distribution in areas where we currently don't have distribution arrangements.”

Omni will focus over the next few months on consolidating and integrating A to Z and Interstate Tire into a single operative unit under a new brand identity.

Omni United is a tire designer and contract manufacturer, offering a range of passenger, light truck, SUV, truck, bus and farm tires marketed under a number of bands: Radar, Timberland, Goodride, Birla, Roadlux and Speedways.
