SALT LAKE CITY (June 24, 2016) — Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C.'s BestDrive L.L.C. commercial tire and retreading unit has opened a truck tire center and retread plant in Salt Lake City, expanding the BestDrive network further westward.

Conti said it selected Salt Lake City for this outlet — where it hosted an open house June 23 — because of the city's “prime geographical” location as the company expands the BestDrive network in the western U.S.

The newest BestDrive outlet — Conti's 18th nationwide — is located on South Redwood Road west of downtown Salt Lake City and east of Salt Lake City International Airport. It offers six full-service truck service bays and a fully functioning retread plant in an 82,000-sq.-ft. structure.

BestDrive's Salt Lake City location houses both commercial tire service and retreading.

The ContiLifeCycle retread plant is rated at 210 tires a day “with room for growth,” Conti said.

The location has 17 employees and four service trucks, including one equipped to handle earthmover tires.

“This is a great opportunity to expand the BestDrive commitment to product and service excellence,” said Glen Carson, BestDrive director of retail for the Americas. “We look forward to increasing our footprint throughout the Salt Lake City market as we continue to provide outstanding service to our fleet customers.

“Finding the right people is always a top priority for BestDrive shops, and Salt Lake City was no exception. We have started with a very experienced staff in this location, and we expect this to only improve over time as we attract highly skilled people in the industry.”

The facility is located in an existing commercial structure that Conti renovated for this purpose. Financial details of the investment were not disclosed.
