SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 24, 2016) — The Automotive Aftermarket Charitable Foundation (AACF) has appointed Mike Wilcox, vice president of worldwide sales at Hennessy Industries Inc., to its board of trustees.
Founded in 1959, AACF is a charity dedicated to helping industry members and their families by providing assistance to those in need based upon circumstances. Support can take the form of immediate, one-time assistance or longer-term support.
The AACF board is made up of representatives from across the aftermarket industry sector.
In his 36 years of working both nationally and internationally in the automotive aftermarket, Mr. Wilcox said he has personally seen the AACF come to the assistance of an employee — an hourly associate who lost his wife and daughter in a matter of a few days, leaving him with two grandchildren to raise on his own. AACF offered financial support for the funeral arrangements of his daughter.
“Terrible accidents or catastrophic illness can occur suddenly and drastically alter the life of a family,” said Joel Ayres, AACF executive director. “We are ready to step in to help.
“We often are called in after all available resources have been exhausted. That's when we fulfill our mission: To provide sustainable solutions for those in great need.”
Mr. Wilcox also serves on the AACF Golf Committee which organizes the annual Bob Schoeberl Memorial Golf Tournament to help support of the foundation.
