COLUMBUS, Ohio (April 27, 2016) — The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded two grants to fund projects for scrap tire market development within the state.
Liberty Tire Services of Ohio L.L.C. is partnering with Jackson Township in a scrap tire processing venture — to make tire-derived fuel (TDF), according to the Ohio EPA. The agency is awarding $350,000 to Liberty Tire and Jackson Township for the purchase of scrap tire processing equipment.
Also, St. Clair Superior Development Corp. is partnering with the Cuyahoga County Soil and Water Conservation District to purchase processing equipment to create geo cells for soil stabilization composed of scrap tire material, the agency said. It is awarding $50,000 to St. Clair and the conservation district for the purchase of processing equipment.
“These grant investments will benefit Ohioans by providing an environmentally friendly outlet for used tires,” the Ohio EPA said.
