BOWIE, Md. (April 26, 2016) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has mailed 10,000 copies of its updated Certified Commercial Tire Service (CTS) manual to its 800 certified CTS instructors.
The new CTS manuals are the fruit of a 2014 training summit in Baltimore, at which TIA executives met with a group of CTS instructors to discuss whatever updates the program needed.
“It was important for us to get input from the instructors, since they are the ones teaching this information on a regular basis,” said Kevin Rohlwing, TIA senior vice president of training.
“The program has been streamlined so we could add more information without any significant increases in the time needed to complete the classroom instruction.”
The update includes additional information on demounting and mounting tubeless tires with tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensors and wide-base service procedures, TIA said.
It also contains more information on jacking, lifting, lockout and tagout procedures to provide technicians with guidelines that will help prevent accidents related with these tasks, the association said.
