TIA to hold ATS training in Seattle

SEATTLE (April 20, 2016) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) will hold its Seattle-area Certified Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Advanced Instructor Training Class Aug. 30-Sept. 2.

Green River Community College in Auburn, Wash., will be the site of the training, the association said.

The Certified ATS Instructor Program is an intensive four-day session, featuring both classroom and hands-on instruction, that industry professionals must complete to be certified to train technicians at their dealerships to prepare them for certification, TIA said.

The training includes safety guidelines and step-by-step procedures for all aspects of passenger and light truck tire service, including wheel installation and proper torque and tire repair.

It includes a full day of instruction in tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), so technicians will have a thorough understanding of the TPMS requirements of the most popular domestic and foreign vehicles, TIA said.

To date, the trade group's train-the-trainer approach has been used to train and/or certify more than 100,000 technicians since 1997, the association said.
