SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (April 15, 2016) — Universal Technical Institute (UTI) is hosting a two-day advanced automotive repair training course through Service-Edu at its Avondale, Ariz., campus, April 29-30.

The Avondale program will include four training courses by trainers from Gates Corp., Mahle Aftermarket Inc., NGK Spark Plugs Co. Ltd. and Timken Co. Each manufacturer's training course is focused on their category of expertise with information on how to diagnose failures and repair them. Meals are included, with opportunities to win raffle prizes, UTI said.

    Courses include:

    • “We Can't Do it Like We Used To — An Introduction to the Be System Smart I-60 and R-90 Initiative,”  presented by Bobby Bassett, manager of training N.A. for Gates. The session will explore root cause failures along with the effects they have on the accessory belt drive system (ABDS) and coolant system.
    • “Gaskets: More Than Meets the Eye,” taught by Bill McKnight, marketing team leader — training for Mahle. His presentation will look at head gaskets, manifold gaskets and ancillary gaskets.
    • “Spark Plug and Ignition Advancements,” presented by Michael Durocher, technical training specialist for NGK. The course takes an in-depth look at spark plug technology and engineering to help choose the best plug for every job.
    • “Timken Light Vehicle Technical Training,” taught by Rick Domin, training and product support manager for Timken. His presentation provides a product line overview for bearings, hub assemblies, seals and lubrication. Installation tips and tricks and damage analysis also will be presented.

Service-Edu, sponsored by Gates, Mahle, NGK and Timken, is a new training program for automotive professionals held in partnership with the UTI campuses across the U.S.

Registration is $49 per person. To register, visit the Service-Edu website.
