Nexen Tire Corp, expects its advertisement in the Asphalt 8 mobile racing game will play an effective role in increasing awareness of the company's brand in the European region.

SEOUL, South Korea (April 13, 2016) — Nexen Tire Corp. plans to hold new advertising and promotional game events through Asphalt 8, a popular mobile racing game in Europe.

Starting March 30, the South Korean tire maker began placing video and banner advertisements in Asphalt 8, and said it will hold various in-game events including a customized “Nexen Tire Cup” and mini games targeting European countries.

Asphalt 8: Nexen Tire Cup, which will be held between April 13 and 17, will consist of races among users in five European countries — England, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Based on lap time rankings, Nexen said an array of prizes will be awarded, including 650,000 credits for the first and second prize winners, 350 tokens for players finishing in the top 100, and other various prizes.

A video advertisement for the Nexen Tire-Manchester City Football Club (MCFC) partnership is being shown in Asphalt 8. At the end of the advertisement, a banner announcing the Asphalt 8: Nexen Tire Cup will be displayed. Users who view the video will be awarded a game token.

In addition, the Nexen Tire Skills Challenge mini game, which is a penalty shootout competition, will be added into Asphalt 8 and be available from May 6 to 19. All participants in the mini game also will receive a game token.

“Marketing events through Asphalt 8 aimed at European countries are expected to play an effective role in introducing the Nexen Tire brand to European countries along with European TV advertising campaigns and our partnership with MCFC,” the company said.

Meanwhile, Nexen is sharing the content about the Asphalt 8 sponsor cup and other marketing activities through the tire maker's official Facebook page and holding an event to present a PlayStation 4 gaming console to a select fan.

Mobile racing game Asphalt 8 offers a virtual experience of racing “with fantastic stunts on exotic tracks,” according to Nexen.

The company, established in 1942, has its global headquarters in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, and in Seoul. It claims to work with 491 dealers based in 141 countries around the world (as of July 2015) and owns three plants — two in South Korea (Yangsan and Changnyeong) and one in Qingdao, China. Another plant in Zatec, Czech Republic will be operational by 2018.
