MADISON, Tenn.Marangoni Tread North America Inc. has signed four more licensees in the U.S. in the past several months, including three that are committed to the firm's Ringtread spliceless premium retreading process.
The new Marangoni affiliates are Tire Service L.L.C. in Jacksonville, Fla.; Quality Tire & Service L.L.C. in Munford, Tenn.; Industrial Tire of CNY in Syracuse, N.Y.; and J&R Tire Inc. in Fairburn, Ga.
Tire Service and J&R Tire are using Marangoni's Ringtread spliceless and Unitread conventional precure retreading processes, while Quality Tire is committed to the Ringtread process and Industrial Tire is using the Unitread system only.
The signings bring to 24 the number of retreaders in the U.S. allied with Madison-based Marangoni, a subsidiary of Italy's Marangoni S.p.A. There also are four plants in Canada, operated by two licensees.
For Tire Service, the deal puts the Jacksonville-based commercial tire dealer into retreading for the first time.
In the commercial tire service business since 2008, Tire Service is an offshoot of Metro Towing L.L.C., a heavy-duty truck towing service, according to Jonathan Ramdhan, owner of both companies. Tire Service serves customers in North Florida and South Georgia with commercial tire sales, tire repair, fleet checks and towing.
The company set up its retread plant at an existing 24,000-sq.-ft. warehouse in north Jacksonville, with a capacity of more than 36,000 retreads per year.
Output in the first few months of operation will be closer to 800 a month, Mr. Ramdhan said, but this should ramp up to 150 a day within a year.
Tire Service is Marangoni's second retread licensee in Florida.
Marangoni has a strong presence in the North Florida and South Georgia markets and we are excited about servicing existing Ringtread customers as well as converting lots of new fleets to the best retread system available, Mr. Ramdhan said.
The company anticipates dealing directly with fleet customers in the area as well as developing a network of associate dealers to handle the product as well, Mr. Ramdhan said.
Tire Service handles Bridgestone, Continental, Duracargo and Firestone new tire brands from sites in Jacksonville and Orlando.
Munford-based Quality Tire added the Marangoni Ringtread spliceless retread process to its existing retread plant to complement its commercial tire sales and service business in western Tennessee.
Quality Tire has been a retreader for the past 15-plus years, using Galgo and Pre-Q tread rubber, according the dealership's website. With the addition of the Maragoni process, Quality Tire's retread capacity will grow to more than 35,000 retreads per year.

Quality Tire did not disclose what it spent to equip its retread plant with the Ringtread equipment.
Quality Tire & Service has been serving the west Tennessee region since 1996 with services that include new commercial and retreaded tires, service and repair, 24/7 commercial on-site tire service and fleet checks.
Quality Tire lists Aeolus, Bridgestone, Firestone, Goodyear, Synergy and Yokohama as the truck tire brands it carries.
Syracuse-based Industrial Tire, a family-owned and -operated company, is adding retreading to its portfolio of services, which include new commercial tires, road service, mounting/dismounting, balancing, rim reconditioning and semi-truck aluminum-wheel polishing.
The Unitread retread plantlocated at Industrial Tire's sole outlet on the near north side of Syracuse near the I-90/I-81 junctionis rated at more than 25,000 units a year, according to Marangoni.
Industrial Tire was founded over a decade ago by Dennis Beaudette. His sons DJ and Marty also are working in the business, according to the firm's website.
The dealership handles Bridgestone-, Continental-, Double Coin-, Goodyear-, Michelin- and Yokohama-brand new truck tires and Solideal industrial tires, the website shows.
Fairburn-based J&R Tire Inc. added Ringtread and Unitread capacity to its truck tire service facility, where it also continues as a Good-year retreading affiliate.
J&R Tire has been serving the Atlanta area since 1999 with services that include new commercial tire service and repair, on-site tire service, fleet checks, DOT inspections for CSA compliance and a complete modern retread plant with a capacity of more than 30,000 retreads per year.
