The Corsa model has a higher land-to-sea void ratio, pushing it closer in appearance to a slick racing tire.
The tires also feature multiple compounds across the tread face and these compounds are distinct to each of the three different models, according to presentations posted online.
Among the physical traits Pirelli is touting for the relaunched lines are:
- Rounder profiles for better grip and cornering accuracy;
- New under tread compounds for improved handling and rolling resistance;
- Innovative polymers with high mechanical properties for optimised dry and wet performance; and
- New tread pattern with deeper longitudinal grooves for better water disposal.
Pirelli previewed the new lines at the recent Geneva Motor Show and is rolling them out to a select group of dealers and trade/business media from 18 countries this week at Portugal's Autódromo do Estoril circuit.
The North American debut is as yet not known.
Pirelli expects the new models to comprise half of the P Zero market this year, according to Gregorio Borgo, Pirelli general manager of operations, be the majority tire in the group after that. There are nine other P Zero SKUs in the portfolio, and they will continue to be offered, Mr. Borgo added.
Pirelli is offering the colored lettering version as a customized option in selected sizes; ordering will start in September, but Pirelli is offering those interested the option of registering their interest.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the launch of the P Zero family.
